| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives pays honor and respect to the truly great |
| 4 | | individuals who have served our country, and in doing so, have |
| 5 | | gone above and beyond the call of duty; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Lovelace "Ace" Kitchen served as a Sergeant in the |
| 7 | | United States Army Air Corps with the 556th Bombardment |
| 8 | | Squadron during World War II; he served as a radio operator and |
| 9 | | gunner with the AAF 757; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen's overseas battles included |
| 11 | | those in Central Europe, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen took part in the infamous Battle |
| 13 | | of the Bulge; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen flew in a Martin B-26 Marauder - |
| 15 | | a twin engine airplane designed for bombing at a low level; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, During his service, Lovelace Kitchen was awarded 4 |
| 17 | | Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, an Air Medal with 2 Oak |
| 18 | | Leaf Clusters, an American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, a European |
| 19 | | African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, 2 Overseas |
| 20 | | Bars, and a Victory Ribbon; therefore, be it
