HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Michael B. Jones of Calumet City on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's most prominent values-based youth development organization; to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills; and

WHEREAS, Becoming an Eagle Scout builds character, provides lessons that are carried into one's lifetime, provides invaluable training, and develops a lifetime of fitness and personal lessons that can impact a youth's decision-making; and

WHEREAS, Part of the Boy Scout oath encourages Scouts to help others and provide service to one's community; the oath further encourages a Scout "to help other people at all times", which helps build dignity and respect; one of the lasting responsibilities for a Scout is to develop his leadership skills and become a productive citizen; and

WHEREAS, Michael B. Jones has demonstrated all of the aforementioned qualities and skills to be deemed worthy of becoming an Eagle Scout; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Michael B. Jones for being an outstanding citizen and for achieving the goal of becoming an Eagle Scout for the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Michael B. Jones as an expression of our esteem and respect.
