HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Elizabeth A. Robb on the occasion of her retirement as Chief Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb was elected by her colleagues to serve as Chief Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit in 2004 and has been selected to serve in the position continuously for 10 years; she previously served as an Associate Circuit Judge and as Circuit Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit; she was the first woman to hold these offices, inspiring women to pursue success and excellence in the field of law; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb has successfully practiced law as a sole practitioner in a private law practice; she has also been a partner in the law firm of Reynard & Robb in Bloomington and has served as Assistant Juvenile Public Defender for McLean County; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb has willingly and selflessly shared her wealth of knowledge and expertise with students in business law at Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University; she has also presented countless programs and workshops to the edification of others in the fields of law, justice, human services, and social services; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb earned her Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) from Illinois Wesleyan University and her Juris Doctor from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb has been appointed to serve state-wide on numerous committees and conferences, including the Executive Committee, Committee on Strategic Planning, and Committee on Juvenile Justice of the Judicial Conference of Illinois; the Illinois Juvenile Justice Leadership Council; the Illinois Supreme Court's Special Judicial Advisory Committee for Justice and Mental Health Planning; she served as the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Court Reporting Services Agency and Chair of the Judicial Mentor Committee; she was also the first woman to be elected as the Chair of the Conference of Chief Justices; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb helped to establish innovative and groundbreaking programs to improve court services and the support of justice and dignity for the vulnerable and at-risk, mostly notably the Court Appointed Special Advocates program, the McLean County Drug Court, the McLean County Recovery Court, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the Small Claims Mediation Program, and the McLean County Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb and her husband, Alan Sender, have been married for more than 30 years; they have 2 children, Jessica and Molly; and

WHEREAS, Judge Robb has broken the mold of Chief Judge beyond its administrative duties with a desire to tackle community issues for the benefit of all with a focused resolve that has earned her the respect of any who know her; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Elizabeth A. Robb on the occasion of her retirement and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Elizabeth Robb as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
