| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 3-606.1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-606.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606.1)

| 7 | | Sec. 3-606.1. Retired members of the General Assembly. Upon |
| 8 | | receipt
of a request from a retired member of the
the General |
| 9 | | Assembly, accompanied
by the appropriate application and fee, |
| 10 | | the Secretary of State shall issue
to such retired member |
| 11 | | plates bearing appropriate wording or abbreviations
indicating |
| 12 | | that the holder is a retired member of the General Assembly.

| 13 | | Such plates may be issued for a 2 year period beginning January |
| 14 | | 1st of
each odd-numbered year and ending December 31st of the |
| 15 | | subsequent even-numbered year. |
| 16 | | "Retired member" means any individual who (a) has served
as |
| 17 | | a member of the General Assembly for a minimum of 6 years, or |
| 18 | | (b) is 62
or older, has served as a member of the General |
| 19 | | Assembly for a minimum of 4
years, and retired prior to the |
| 20 | | convening of the 83rd General Assembly.

| 21 | | The fees and procedures relating to such plates for retired |
| 22 | | members of
the General Assembly shall be the same as the fees |
| 23 | | and procedures applicable
to personalized plates issued under |
