August 26, 2014

To the Honorable Members of the

Illinois Senate, 98th General Assembly:

In accordance with Article IV, Section 9(b), of the Illinois Constitution, I hereby veto Senate Bill 2590 of the 98th General Assembly.

This bill modifies the licensure requirements for the travel insurance industry so that a business entity offering such insurance, rather than its individual employees, will now be required to obtain a traveler insurance business enterprise license.

Having heard from the sponsors of the bill, I understand there are technical issues that they wish to resolve before enacting a change in the law.  Therefore, I am vetoing the bill to afford the relevant parties additional time to work on the legislation.

Accordingly, I must return this bill without my approval. Therefore, pursuant to Article IV, Section 9 (b) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby return Senate Bill 2590, entitled “AN ACT concerning regulation.”, with the foregoing objections, vetoed in its entirety.

Sincerely,

Pat Quinn

GOVERNOR
