| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3255 as follows:

| 3 | | on page 5, line 6, after the period, by inserting the |
| 4 | | following:
|
| 5 | | "However, the Secretary shall take reasonable steps to ensure |
| 6 | | the veteran still resides in this State at the time of the |
| 7 | | renewal. These steps may include requiring the veteran to |
| 8 | | provide additional documentation or to appear at a Secretary of |
| 9 | | State facility. To identify veterans who are eligible for this |
| 10 | | exemption, the Secretary shall compare the list of the persons |
| 11 | | who have been issued a decal or device to the list of persons |
| 12 | | who have been issued a disabled veteran vehicle registration |
| 13 | | plate under Section 3-609 of this Code, or who are identified |
| 14 | | as a veteran on their driver's license under Section 6-110 of |
| 15 | | this Code or on their identification card under Section 4 of |
| 16 | | the Illinois Identification Card Act.".
