| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General |
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals |
| 4 | | who have served our country and, in doing so, have made the |
| 5 | | ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Army Specialist Joseph Whiting Dimock, II was born |
| 7 | | on May 25, 1989 in Libertyville to Joseph W. and Ellen L. |
| 8 | | Dimock; he was a member of the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, |
| 9 | | where he faithfully attended Sunday School, worshipped, and was |
| 10 | | devoted to the annual summer high school mission trips; he |
| 11 | | loved the outdoors and was an active member of Cub Scout Pack, |
| 12 | | the Venture Crew, and Boy Scout Troop 672, achieving the rank |
| 13 | | of Eagle Scout; for his Eagle Scout project he collected nearly |
| 14 | | 200 worn, American flags so they could be honorably retired in |
| 15 | | a special ceremony; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II graduated from Warren |
| 17 | | Township High School, where he was a member of the Warren Blue |
| 18 | | Devils swim team and swim club; in 2006, he and his teammates |
| 19 | | set the junior varsity swim record in the 400-yard freestyle |
| 20 | | relay, and the record still stands today; he had a special |
| 21 | | knack with children and taught swimming for many years through |
| 22 | | the Wildwood Park District; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II enlisted in the United |
| 2 | | States Army during the spring of his senior year and began his |
| 3 | | service that following August; for nearly 3 years he served |
| 4 | | with the 1st Battalion, 75 Ranger Regiment; he was in his third |
| 5 | | overseas deployment, his second in Afghanistan, supporting |
| 6 | | Operation Enduring Freedom; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, During his service, SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II |
| 8 | | received the Ranger Tab, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the |
| 9 | | Parachutist Badge; he was also awarded the National Defense |
| 10 | | Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq |
| 11 | | Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and |
| 12 | | the Army Service Ribbon; he was posthumously awarded the Bronze |
| 13 | | Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II is survived by his |
| 15 | | parents, Joseph and Ellen; his brothers, Louis and Michael; his |
| 16 | | paternal grandmother, Elna Jensen Dimock; his maternal |
| 17 | | grandfather, Alan R. McCausland; and numerous aunts, uncles, |
| 18 | | cousins, friends, and fellow soldiers; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II was a son, a brother, an |
| 20 | | Eagle Scout, and a United States Army Ranger; this fallen |
| 21 | | soldier deserves to be remembered by the State of Illinois for |
| 22 | | his service to this country; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |
| 3 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of road on |
| 4 | | Route 120/Belvidere Road between John Mogg and Sears Boulevard |
| 5 | | in Grayslake as "Army SPC Joseph W. Dimock II Joey Memorial |
| 6 | | Highway"; and be it further
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
| 8 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with |
| 9 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs |
| 10 | | giving notice of the name "Army SPC Joseph W. Dimock II Joey |
| 11 | | Memorial Highway"; and be it further |
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 13 | | delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of |
| 14 | | Transportation, and the family of SPC Joseph W. Dimock, II.
