2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply |
3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Daniel Joseph Edelman of |
4 | | Chicago; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Edelman was born in Manhattan in New York |
6 | | City on July 3, 1920, to Selig and Selma Edelman; he graduated |
7 | | from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx and from Columbia |
8 | | University in 1940; he spent time as a sports reporter and |
9 | | served in the U.S. Army during World War II; after the war, he |
10 | | was a night reporter for CBS in New York and worked as a |
11 | | publicist for Musicraft Records; he married Ruth Ann Rozumoff; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, By 1947, Daniel Edelman was living in Chicago; he |
14 | | was the founder and chairman of one of the largest public |
15 | | relations firms in the world and a groundbreaker in the field; |
16 | | he began his company in a small office in Chicago in 1952 and |
17 | | it has grown to include 63 offices in 26 countries, with more |
18 | | than 4,600 employees; and

19 | | WHEREAS, His company has helped build such well-known |
20 | | brands as Sara Lee, KFC, Microsoft, Pfizer, General Electric, |
21 | | Wal-Mart Stores, Abbott Laboratories, Samsung, Royal Dutch |
22 | | Shell, Kraft, Johnson & Johnson, and Unilever; and
