SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Martina "Martye" W. Dillard (nee 
4Whitfield) of Hinsdale, who passed away on January 7, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was born in 1924 in Madisonville, 
6Kentucky; she married Edward F. Dillard and was a 50 year 
7resident of Hinsdale; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was the head operating room nurse 
9at Hines V.A. Hospital for over 50 years; she was the president 
10of the Chicago chapter of the Association of periOperative 
11Registered Nurses in the 1980s and trained scores of Loyola 
12Medical School residents in proper operating room protocol; and
  
 
  
13    WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was preceded in death by her 
14husband of 58 years, Edward Dillard; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Martina Dillard is survived by her children 
16Illinois State Senator Kirk (Stephanie) Dillard, Kimberly 
17(Steven), and Karyn Mina (Peter); her grandchildren, Jessica 
18(Robert), Zachary, Graham, Grace, Emma, and Ava; and her 
19great-grandson, Alex; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
2Martina Dillard, and we extend our sincere condolences to her 
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it

5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to the family of Martina Dillard as an expression of 
7our deepest sympathy.
