SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Rodney C. Pennington of Glen Ellyn, who 
4passed away November 18, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington was born in Elmhurst; he 
6graduated from Glenbard West High School and earned a degree 
7from the University of Illinois in 1974; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington worked for a time selling 
9computer mainframes until he learned the printing business; he 
10and his wife, Joyce, ran a print shop, known as Express Press, 
11for  28 years; starting in 2001, he  spent a decade as a real 
12estate agent for Baird & Warner; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington was a volunteer firefighter for 
1434 years in Glen Ellyn beginning in 1976; he served on the fire 
15company's board of directors from 1997 to 2005; he devoted 
16significant amounts of time to the revitalization projects of 
17Glen Ellyn's fire stations and was chairman of the fire 
18company's committee to commemorate the department's 100th 
19anniversary in 2007; he took great pride in being able to serve 
20alongside his son, Brian, who was sworn in as a firefighter in 
212010; and

1    WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington is survived by his wife, Joyce; 
2his son, Brian; his daughters, Amanda Heinz and Valerie Wolf; 
3his mother, Betty; his brothers, Stephen and Doug; his sisters, 
4Joyce Rodos and Carol Constantine; and his 4 grandchildren; 
5therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Rodney Pennington, and we extend our sincere condolences to his 
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Rodney Pennington as an expression 
13of our deepest sympathy.
