| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Rodney C. Pennington of Glen Ellyn, who |
| 4 | | passed away November 18, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington was born in Elmhurst; he |
| 6 | | graduated from Glenbard West High School and earned a degree |
| 7 | | from the University of Illinois in 1974; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington worked for a time selling |
| 9 | | computer mainframes until he learned the printing business; he |
| 10 | | and his wife, Joyce, ran a print shop, known as Express Press, |
| 11 | | for 28 years; starting in 2001, he spent a decade as a real |
| 12 | | estate agent for Baird & Warner; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Rodney Pennington was a volunteer firefighter for |
| 14 | | 34 years in Glen Ellyn beginning in 1976; he served on the fire |
| 15 | | company's board of directors from 1997 to 2005; he devoted |
| 16 | | significant amounts of time to the revitalization projects of |
| 17 | | Glen Ellyn's fire stations and was chairman of the fire |
| 18 | | company's committee to commemorate the department's 100th |
| 19 | | anniversary in 2007; he took great pride in being able to serve |
| 20 | | alongside his son, Brian, who was sworn in as a firefighter in |
| 21 | | 2010; and
