| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Samuel J. Stanczak of Gurnee, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 14, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak was born on October 7, 1921, in |
| 6 | | Waukegan; he married Catherine Kennedy on July 19, 1947, in |
| 7 | | Waukegan; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak retired from Johnson Motors after |
| 9 | | 30 years; he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, |
| 10 | | repairing planes during WWII; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak played the accordion in a band |
| 12 | | called "The Drifters"; he was a charter member of St. Paul the |
| 13 | | Apostle Church in Gurnee where he was a eucharistic minister, |
| 14 | | usher, and Minister of Care; he helped organize the K.C. |
| 15 | | Wheelers at the VA hospital and was in charge of helping |
| 16 | | patients attend mass at Libertyville Manor; he was a Grand |
| 17 | | Knight of K. of C. Waukegan Council #731 and past Faithful |
| 18 | | Navigator, 4th degree #0197, member of VFW Post #1293, Gurnee |
| 19 | | American Legion Post #991, Polish American Legion #5, and |
| 20 | | Waukegan Moose Lodge #706; he would volunteer to deliver |
| 21 | | Christmas baskets to the poor; and
