SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Samuel J. Stanczak of Gurnee, who passed away on January 14, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak was born on October 7, 1921, in Waukegan; he married Catherine Kennedy on July 19, 1947, in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak retired from Johnson Motors after 30 years; he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, repairing planes during WWII; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak played the accordion in a band called "The Drifters"; he was a charter member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee where he was a eucharistic minister, usher, and Minister of Care; he helped organize the K.C. Wheelers at the VA hospital and was in charge of helping patients attend mass at Libertyville Manor; he was a Grand Knight of K. of C. Waukegan Council #731 and past Faithful Navigator, 4th degree #0197, member of VFW Post #1293, Gurnee American Legion Post #991, Polish American Legion #5, and Waukegan Moose Lodge #706; he would volunteer to deliver Christmas baskets to the poor; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak was preceded in death by his wife; his brothers, Edward and Lawrence Stanczak; and his sisters, Marcella Schmidt, Gerri Turkowski, and Pat Habjan; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak is survived by his daughter, Terri Hemmings; his son, Michael (Janet) Stanczak; his grandchildren, Michael and Thomas Stanczak; and his brothers, Leo (Winnie) Stanczak, John Stanczak, and Jim (Mary Kay) Stanczak; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Samuel Stanczak, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Samuel Stanczak as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
