| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Richard "Vic" Gonzales of Alton, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 12, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was born on October 8, 1934, in |
| 6 | | San Felipe, Mexico, to Atanacio and Reyes (Carmona) Gonzales; |
| 7 | | he served in the U.S Army from 1957-1959 and was a member of |
| 8 | | St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he retired from Amoco Oil |
| 9 | | Company as a pipefitter; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales volunteered for the Red Cross |
| 11 | | beginning in 1995 and was Volunteer of the Year; he was one of |
| 12 | | the first disaster volunteers to respond to the September 11 |
| 13 | | tragedy; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was dedicated to his community |
| 15 | | and his family; he was the grand marshal of the Alton Halloween |
| 16 | | parade in 1998; he enjoyed coaching many youth recreational |
| 17 | | sports teams and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was preceded in death by his |
| 19 | | parents; his sister, Consuelo Gonzales; his brothers, John, |
| 20 | | Peter, and Joseph Gonzales; and his niece, Theresa Gonzales; |
| 21 | | and
