SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joanne L. Elbrecht of Virden, who passed away on February 15, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht was born on May 14, 1933, in Petersburg; her parents were Bruce and Emma Jackson; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht was a homemaker; she also held several clerical positions for a number of temporary services before finally retiring as a secretary at Julie Davis Realtors; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht was a member of the Grace Southern Baptist Church in Virden, Virden Senior Citizens, and a past member of Divernon American Legion Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht enjoyed singing and sang in several church choirs in her younger days; she loved to travel and did much of it solo, preferring to stick to the back roads and unbeaten paths that led her to her next adventure; she also loved reading, listening to country music, and spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Fifer, and her second husband, Harold Chaplin; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Elbrecht is survived by her husband, Herbert; her daughters, Connie (Jeff) LeMar and Holly (Leon "Chip") Cormier; her stepdaughter, Beverly (Cliff) Franklin; her sons, David Fifer and Dale (Ramona) Fifer; her stepson, Gary Elbrecht; her brother, Bill (Rose) Jackson; her grandchildren, Chad (Keri) LeMar, Aimee (Mitch) Shoen, Clint LeMar, and Shelby LeMar; her many step-grandchildren; her 4 great-grandchildren; her many step-great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Joanne L. Elbrecht; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joanne Elbrecht as an expression of our sympathy.
