SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John "Jack" Currin of Bloomington, who passed away on January 15, 2013; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was born on February 21, 1948, in Bloomington; his parents were William H. and Ione Brandt Currin; he married Christine A. Concklin on August 8, 1970, in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was a graduate of Bloomington High School and Illinois State University; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was employed at State Farm Insurance Company as a commercial field underwriter for 42 years; he also coached boys and girls basketball and boys football for 20 years at St. Mary's Grade School, Holy Trinity Grade School, and Central Catholic High School; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was a member of Lakeside Country Club for more than 35 years and enjoyed golfing; he was an avid sports fan, but his heart was with Illinois State University athletics, for which he was a donor and multi-sport season ticket holder for more than 25 years; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was the 2012 recipient of the Joseph F. Warner Golden Redbird Award, the highest honor ISU Athletics bestows on a non-athlete; he was a 2006 Scholarship Fund board president and a Scholarship Fund board member for more than 15 years, serving the last 5 years as a member of the Advisory Board; he was also the all-time leading volunteer fundraiser in program history in both money raised and in new members raised, as well as a participant in every Weibring/Kilborn Classic and Redbird Golf Classic; and

WHEREAS, John Currin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Currin; and

WHEREAS, John Currin is survived by his wife; his daughters, Colleen (Jeff) Graham and Mollie (Nick) Dodd; his grandchildren, Olivia and Charlie Graham and Jackson, Emily, and Katie Dodd; his brother, Gaylen Currin; his many nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-law, Charles "Bud" (Ellen) Concklin and John (Sue) Concklin; his sister-in-law, Colleen (John) Crawford; and his dog, Moses; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John "Jack" Currin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Currin as an expression of our sympathy.
