SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Norma Lee Sholar of Godfrey, who passed away on March 2, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Norma Sholar was born in Alton on February 29, 1932, to Arthur Peter and Reba America (Edwards) Schelle, she graduated from Alton High School in 1949; she married Dexter Atwood Sholar on December 23, 1950, at Scott Air Force Base chapel in St. Clair County; and

WHEREAS, Norma Sholar was a homemaker until 1974 and then owned and operated Fast Eddie's Fried Chicken in Alton until her retirement in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Norma Sholar enjoyed baking, crochet, and was dedicated to her family; and

WHEREAS, Norma Sholar was preceded in death by her parents; her 2 infant children; her sister, Nancy Westbrook; her brother, Arthur Thomas Schelle; her parents-in-law, Emit and Rutha Bell (Chadwick) Sholar; her brothers-in-law, Leon Little, Henry L. Sholar, Jud Sholar, Franklin Sholar, Monroe Anderson, and J.B. Shirley; and her sisters-in-law, Teriece Shirley and Geneva Sholar; and

WHEREAS, Norma Sholar is survived by her husband; her sons, Michael "Elwood" Sholar, Edward "Fast Eddie" Sholar, Richard "Hawk" Sholar, and John (Shannon) Sholar; her daughters, Katherine "Kat" (Mike) Brunaugh, Sandra "Sam" Rynders, and Rhonda (Paul) Elmendorf; her sisters, Barbara Little and Linda (Gary) Herron; her sisters-in-law, Peg Schelle and Maggie Anderson; her brother-in-law, James Westbrook; her grandchildren, Michael Sholar Jr., Megan Sholar, and Matthew Sholar, (and their mother, Michelle Sholar), Amy Sholar, Edward "Eddie" (Trish) Sholar Jr., Maggie Sholar, Katherine (Chris) Wilson, (and their mother, Sarah Farley Woodman), Danielle (Mick) McCahill, Richard Sholar Jr., (and his mother, Christi Boss), John "Artie" (Laurie) Sholar Jr., Andrew Sholar, Judson Corby, (and his father, James Corby), Trae Corby, Jason (Nikki) Brunaugh, Jenna (Brad) Kaczmarski, Joseph Rynders, Lewis Rynders, Frances Rynders, (and their father, Christopher Rynders), Dylan Elmendorf, Maxwell Elmendorf, and Dexter Elmendorf; her 15 great-grandchildren; and her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Norma Sholar, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Norma Sholar as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
