SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Anne E. McElroy of Decatur, who passed 
4away on February 28, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was born on July 4, 1962, in Decatur; 
6her parents were Richard and Elizabeth Anne "Betty" McElroy; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Anne McElroy began her career with the State of 
9Illinois as the administrative assistant to the late Senator 
10Penny Severns; she subsequently entered the hotel industry, 
11beginning with her work with Tharaldson Enterprises as the 
12Director of Regional Sales, and oversaw the sales and marketing 
13efforts of many hotels throughout the country; in 2003, she 
14returned to the State of Illinois as the Deputy Director of 
15Personnel for the Illinois Department of Corrections; she ended 
16her career as the Chief of Labor Relations for IDOC; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was a member of Ss. James and Patrick 
18Catholic Church; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was preceded in death by her parents; 
20and

1    WHEREAS, Anne McElroy is survived by her children, Colleen 
2Alexandra Athey and Richard Hayden Athey; her sister, Ellen 
3McElroy-Kenworth; her brothers, Michael (Lynn) McElroy, 
4Patrick (Barbara) McElroy, and Timothy (Leslie) McElroy; her 
5nieces and nephews, Hilary and Colin Runion, Byrnes Kenworth, 
6Conor and Brennan McElroy, Matthew McElroy, and Dixie McElroy; 
7her special cousin, Mary Adams; her ex-husband, Joseph Athey; 
8and her many other relatives, friends, and co-workers; 
9therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
12her family and friends, the passing of Anne E. McElroy; and be 
13it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Anne McElroy as an expression of our 
16sympathy.
