SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lee Banks Sr. of Springfield, who passed away on March 5, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. was born on October 23, 1925, in Marshall, Missouri; his parents were Robert Banks and Malissa Banks Hammons; he married Norma Jean Watson on November 27, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. attended school in Marshall, Missouri, and served his country as a member of the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. was employed with the federal government in the General Services Administration for 28 years until his retirement in 1987; he was also employed at George Bunn Jr. for over 28 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. was a member of St. John AME Church and the Otis B. Duncan Post 809; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clarence Monroe Banks Sr.; his daughter, Susie Ann Banks; and his grandson, Christopher Michael Banks; and

WHEREAS, Robert Banks Sr. is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Banks; his sons, Michael D. (Ollie) Banks and Robert Lee (Virgie) Banks Jr.; his daughter, Reggie Jean Harris (companion, Sylvester Brown); his grandsons, Robert Lee Banks III, Hasan Harris, Sean M. Banks, and Chaz Tribbet; his great-granddaughter, Ziyah S. Banks; his sister, Clara Mae Parsons; his special cousin, Gladys Guthery; his special great-nephew, Kenneth Baker; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Lee Banks Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Banks Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
