SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary M. Mattson, who passed away on March 9, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mattson was born in Manistique, Michigan, on March 9, 1943; she later moved to Joliet and started her family; and

WHEREAS, While at home raising her own children, Mary Mattson began to work as a home daycare provider; she bestowed much love and compassion to many children of the Joliet area for over 30 years; she also volunteered her time preparing and serving her "special meals" for DayBreak Shelter for over 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mattson was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; she also attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mattson enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she was born and reminiscing about past family histories; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mattson was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Charlo Mayhew, and her sister, Flora Anthes; and

WHEREAS, Mary Mattson is survived by her children, Elizabeth A. (Greg) Ragusa, Eric R. Mattson and Amy M. (Don) Raymer; her grandchildren, Alaina, Alex, and Abby Ragusa and Allison, Ashley, and Andrew Raymer; her sisters, Barb Allen and Cathy Bullard; her brothers-in-law, Jake Anthes and Jim and Thom Mattson; her sister-in-law, Laura Hines; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary M. Mattson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Mattson as an expression of our sympathy.
