2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Felix Macias of Godfrey, who passed away |
4 | | on March 20, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Felix Macias was born on January 19, 1936, in |
6 | | Alton to Thomas and Dolores (Araujo) Macias; he attended Alton |
7 | | public schools and played football for Alton High School, |
8 | | graduating in 1954; he received an athletic scholarship to |
9 | | Culver Stockton College and was inducted into the school's |
10 | | Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005; he married Betty Lou Barry on |
11 | | January 13, 1962, in Alton; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Felix Macias taught high school in Palmyra, |
13 | | Missouri, for 2 years before teaching at Alton High School, |
14 | | retiring in 1998 after 38 years of service; he coached football |
15 | | and baseball and taught driver education while at Alton High |
16 | | School; he also taught driver education at East Alton-Wood |
17 | | River High School for 6 years; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Felix Macias was an avid sports fan and loved both |
19 | | St. Louis Cardinal and Chicago Cubs baseball; he was a member |
20 | | of First Christian Church in Alton; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Felis Macias was preceded in death by his parents |
