2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Johnnie C. McIntosh Sr., who passed away | ||||||
4 | on February 15, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Johnnie McIntosh Sr. was born on December 24, | ||||||
6 | 1924, in Dekalb, Mississippi, to Virgil D. and Alma McIntosh; | ||||||
7 | he entered into marriage with Eunice Adams in 1948; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Johnnie McIntosh Sr. served in the United States | ||||||
9 | Army/Air Force, achieving the rank of corporal; he worked for | ||||||
10 | American Steel, the Glass House, and Scott Air Force Base; | ||||||
11 | while he was at Scott Air Force Base, he founded and began his | ||||||
12 | business, New York Cleaners; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Johnnie McIntosh Sr. was a long-time entrepreneur | ||||||
14 | and businessman; New York Cleaners was started in 1950 in East | ||||||
15 | St. Louis; over the years, the business expanded to numerous | ||||||
16 | additional locations in the metro East St. Louis and the St. | ||||||
17 | Louis, Missouri, areas; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, New York Cleaners is recognized as the second | ||||||
19 | largest dry cleaning facility in the metro east and St. Louis, | ||||||
20 | Missouri, areas; it employs over 100 people and has had | ||||||
21 | cleaning contracts with such notable organizations as Scott Air |

2 | Harrah's Casino, Gateway International Raceway, Monsanto, | ||||||

5 | Force Racing Team, and the Professional Bull Riders; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Johnnie McIntosh Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | wife, Eunice; his parents; and his 3 brothers; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Johnnie McIntosh Sr. is survived by his sons, | ||||||
9 | Parris M. (Betty) McIntosh and John C. (Elke) McIntosh III; his | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, Tenisha McIntosh, Rafael Owens, Dallas | ||||||
11 | McIntosh, and Kaelah McIntosh; his great-grandchildren, | ||||||
12 | Dedrick, Miahj, and Raven; his special friend of 15 years, | ||||||
13 | Rosie Fields; his brothers, Charlie (Catherine) McIntosh, | ||||||
14 | Jimmie McIntosh, Shumphart (Ruth) McIntosh, and Willie (Joyce) | ||||||
15 | McIntosh; his sisters, Birdie (Gilford) Johnson, Irene | ||||||
16 | Edwards, and Jewel Love; his aunt, Ina Jean (Marcellus Sr.) | ||||||
17 | Roberts; his uncle, Leslie (Joyce) McIntosh; his | ||||||
18 | sisters-in-law, Helen and Ella McIntosh; and a host of nieces, | ||||||

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Johnnie McIntosh Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
23 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
