| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Nota J. Kallianis of Waukegan, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on April 12, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Nota Kallianis was born on March 27, 1927, in | ||||||
| 6 | Daphni, Greece; in March of 1969 she brought her children with | ||||||
| 7 | her to the United States and joined her husband, Dimitrios | ||||||
| 8 | Kallianis, in Waukegan, who had previously come to the U.S. | ||||||
| 9 | after political unrest in their native Greece; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Nota Kallianis helped her son, Dino, and her | ||||||
| 11 | daughter, Renee, build Captain Porky's restaurant, where she | ||||||
| 12 | worked until age 83 and was known as a great chef and | ||||||
| 13 | affectionately known to the customers as "mama"; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Nota Kallianis loved nature, animals, gardening, | ||||||
| 15 | and flowers and on a weekly basis would give her neighbors | ||||||
| 16 | fresh baked bread, flowers, and vegetables that she had grown | ||||||
| 17 | herself; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Nota Kallianis was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 19 | husband, Dimitrios; her sister, Katerina Thanou; and her | ||||||
| 20 | brothers, Nicholas and Vassilios Gianoulis; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Nota Kallianis was the beloved mother of Renee | ||||||
| 2 | Kallianis (George) Andrianakis, George (Elaine) Kallianis, | ||||||
| 3 | Dino (Elaine) Kallianis, and Joan (David) Murphy; the loving | ||||||
| 4 | grandmother of Dean and James Andrianakis, Patricia and James | ||||||
| 5 | Kallianis, Dimitrios (fiancee Kristina) Kallianis, George | ||||||
| 6 | (Jenna) Kallianis, Notah Kallianis, and Jacqueline and | ||||||
| 7 | Stephanie Murphy; the loving great-grandmother of Constantine | ||||||
| 8 | Douglas Kallianis; the dear sister of George (Christina) | ||||||
| 9 | Gianoulis; and the sister-in-law of Vasiliki Moutis; she is | ||||||
| 10 | also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, | ||||||
| 11 | be it

| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 14 | Nota Kallianis, and we extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 15 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 16 | further

| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to the family of Nota Kallianis as an expression of | ||||||
| 19 | our deepest sympathy.
