2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Morton "Mort" D. Barnett M.D. of | ||||||
4 | Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Joliet, who passed away on | ||||||
5 | April 18, 2013; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett was born on April 23, 1938, in Oak | ||||||
7 | Park to Ivy and Reginald A. Barnett; he graduated from Oak | ||||||
8 | Park-River Forest High School in 1956, from the University of | ||||||
9 | Illinois in 1959, and from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in | ||||||
10 | 1963; he married Harriet Bernstein; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett served a medical internship in San | ||||||
12 | Bernardino, California, and a residency in dermatology at Cook | ||||||
13 | County Hospital in Chicago; he was a flight surgeon in the | ||||||
14 | United States Air Force, stationed with the 5th Fighter | ||||||
15 | Interceptor Squadron in Minot, North Dakota; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett practiced dermatology for 32 years | ||||||
17 | in Joliet and founded Dermatology Ltd., now known as Premier | ||||||
18 | Dermatology; he was certified by the American Board of | ||||||
19 | Dermatology, was a fellow of the American Academy of | ||||||
20 | Dermatology, a member of the Illinois State Medical Society, | ||||||
21 | The Will-Grundy Medical Society, and the Chicago | ||||||
22 | Dermatological Society, where he was named practitioner of the |

1 | year in 1998; he volunteered at the Will-Grundy County Medical | ||||||
2 | Clinic and the Will County Crisis Line; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett was the president of the Sanctuary | ||||||
4 | Homeowners Association since its inception and a past board | ||||||
5 | member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation; he and Harriet were | ||||||
6 | honored by the congregation in 2011; in his retirement, he | ||||||
7 | enjoyed constructing scale models and was a die-hard Chicago | ||||||
8 | Cubs fan; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | parents; his dear in-laws, Adolph and Sylvia Bernstein; his | ||||||
11 | sister-in-law, Elaine (the late Gary) Cohen and Eleanor (the | ||||||
12 | late Donald) Baker; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Morton Barnett was the beloved husband of Harriet; | ||||||
14 | the devoted father of Julie (Keith) Kyzer and Dr. Brian | ||||||
15 | (Marisa) Barnett; the cherished grandfather of Alyssa and David | ||||||
16 | Kyzer, Matthew, Andrew, and Christopher Barnett, and Justin | ||||||
17 | Addison and Abigail Ridgway; the loving twin brother of Nancy | ||||||
18 | (the late Edward E.) Yalowitz; and the brother-in-law of Eugene | ||||||
19 | (Nancy) Bernstein; he is also survived by many special nieces, | ||||||
20 | nephews, friends, and colleagues; therefore, be it
| ||||||
21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Morton Barnett, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
2 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
