SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Salvatore "Sam" Compagno of South Roxana,
4who passed away on April 20, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was born on November 15, 1913,
6in Alton to Ross and Nancy (Rao) Compagno; he married Josephine
7E. Tiona on August 28, 1941; he served in the U.S. Army during
8World War II as a mapmaker; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno worked as a crane operator at
10Olin Corporation; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was a member of the American
12Legion Post No. 126 in Alton; he was known as "Greeps" to his
13family and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and University of
14Illinois fan; he enjoyed reading the Alton Telegraph every day,
15loved going to Sam's Club, and visiting the Sportsman Barber
16Shop and Han's Barber Shop; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was preceded in death by his
18parents; his wife; his son, Christopher S. Compagno; his
19sisters, Bessie Little, Anne Elledge, Rose Foster, and
20Elizabeth Compagno; and his brothers, John Compagno (Little
21Johnnie) and Paul Compagno; and

1    WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno is survived by his
2grandchildren, Christine (Bob) Coles and Christopher Compagno;
3his great-grandchildren, Adam Coles, Dawson Coles, and Addison
4Coles; his sister, Josephine Ufert; and several nieces,
5nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended
6family; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Salvatore Compagno, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Salvatore Compagno as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
