| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Kevin William Sanders, native of Palos |
| 4 | | Hills and former Plainfield resident, who passed away on April |
| 5 | | 17, 2013; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was born outside Chicago on October |
| 7 | | 13, 1979, to Duane and Sandra Sanders; he grew up in Palos |
| 8 | | Hills and graduated from Marist High School in 1997; he |
| 9 | | graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign |
| 10 | | in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in animal science and from |
| 11 | | Parkland College in 2003 with a veterinary technician |
| 12 | | certification; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders held several registered veterinary |
| 14 | | technician positions in Champaign; Plainfield; Fort Wayne, |
| 15 | | Indiana; Waco, Texas; and Hewitt, Texas; he taught at Fox |
| 16 | | College in Tinley Park and McLennan Community College in Waco, |
| 17 | | Texas; he worked with the Plainfield Emergency Management |
| 18 | | Agency for 5 years before moving to Texas and beginning work |
| 19 | | with the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Department; he had |
| 20 | | recently passed the emergency medical technician skills test; |
| 21 | | and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was among the first responders |
|

| 1 | | killed in an explosion at a West, Texas, fertilizer plant after |
| 2 | | they answered the call to battle a fire; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders loved caring for animals, working on |
| 4 | | cars, listening to music and attending concerts, watching the |
| 5 | | Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini, playing paintball, and |
| 6 | | spending time with his family; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was preceded in death by his father; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders is survived by his wife, Sarah |
| 10 | | Sanders; his son, Reeve Sanders; his mother, Sandra Sanders; |
| 11 | | his maternal grandmother, Eleanore Frey; his sister, Jeanette |
| 12 | | (Tim) White; his brother, Scott (Allison Muscolino) Sanders; |
| 13 | | and many friends and extended family; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Kevin Sanders, honor the sacrifice he made while rendering aid |
| 17 | | to others, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
| 18 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Kevin Sanders as an expression of |
| 21 | | our deepest sympathy.
