2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dale McRae of Bethalto, who passed away |
4 | | on May 2, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dale McRae was born on September 5, 1928, to Lena |
6 | | and Waldo McRae in Oakdale; after the passing of his father |
7 | | when he was young, his mother remarried and his stepfather, |
8 | | Ebenezer Duguid, became affectionately known to him as "Pop"; |
9 | | he married Lois Hitch on November 29, 1947; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, In 1944, at age 16, Dale McRae began working at |
11 | | Laclede Steel, spending the next 42 years working there and |
12 | | retiring as Supervisor of Production Scheduling and Planning |
13 | | for the wire mill; he later became plant manager for Willing |
14 | | Bee Wire Company in Willingboro, New Jersey, and then sold real |
15 | | estate for Coldwell Banker-Pasley Realtors in Bethalto; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Dale McRae believed in public service, education, |
17 | | and volunteerism; he was the chairman of the Meadowbrook Public |
18 | | Water District helping to bring city sewers to Meadowbrook and |
19 | | he served on the Bethalto School Board, during which time the |
20 | | present high school was constructed; he also volunteered for |
21 | | numerous religious and community organizations; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Dale McRae had many natural talents including home |
2 | | construction and the ability to repair anything from washing |
3 | | machines to car engines; he was an avid pinochle player end |
4 | | especially enjoyed playing with his family; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dale McRae was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 | | his stepfather, Ebenezer Duguid; his in-laws, Charles and |
7 | | Goldie Hitch; his daughter, Lori Ann McRae; his granddaughter, |
8 | | Danna Marie McRae; his grandson, Thomas Daniel Rice; his |
9 | | brothers, Jerry and Wally McRae; his sister, Lorraine Shetley; |
10 | | his brothers-in-law, James Hitch, Jess Stone, Sam Shetley, and |
11 | | James Ray; and his sister-in-law, Ellen McRae; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dale McRae is survived by his wife, Lois; his |
13 | | children, Steve (Holly) McRae, Dan (Susan) McRae, Kevin (Stacy) |
14 | | McRae, Terri Downs, Tom (Patti) McRae, Barb (Steve) Bryant, and |
15 | | Jeff (Tina) McRae; his 20 grandchildren; his 25 |
16 | | great-grandchildren; his brother, David (Sharon) Duguid; his |
17 | | sister, Alice (Dave) Chamness; his sister-in-law, Henrietta |
18 | | (Bill) Dorsey; his brother-in-law, Ron (Barb) Hitch; his |
19 | | sister-in-law, Sharon (Neil) McGuire; his sisters-in-law, |
20 | | Pauline Stone, Nira Ray, Shelby Hitch, and Billie Masicro; as |
21 | | well as numerous nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
