SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Don Stankoven, who passed away on April 
413, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was born on February 21, 1942; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Don Stankoven served as the Macoupin County 
7Circuit Clerk from 1984 to 1996; he also served as the 
8Dorchester Township Supervisor from 1965 to 1973 and from 1977 
9to 2013; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Stankoven served as a Macoupin County Democrat 
11Precinct Committeeman for 40 years and served on the Macoupin 
12County Board from 1968 to 1974; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was instrumental in the discovery 
14and publishing of the longest handwritten legal document by 
15Abraham Lincoln, which totaled 43 pages in length; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was a member of Croatian Fraternal 
17Union Lodge #217 of Benld; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1his family and friends, the passing of Don Stankoven; and be it

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to the family of Don Stankoven as an expression of 
5our sympathy.
