SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Stephen F. Lakin of Rosewood Heights, who 
4passed away on June 21, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin was born in Alton on August 2, 1941, 
6to Robert R. and Francis E. (Phoenix) Lakin; he served in the 
7United States Navy; he married Adele Raya on July 3, 1989, in 
8Granite City; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin owned Lakin Home Improvement; he was 
10a retired police officer for the City of Wood River and a 
11member of the Madison County Police Association and life-member 
12of the Illinois Police Association and the Illinois Police 
13Benevolent Association; he was a former President and Officer 
14of the Wood River Lions Club, Wood River Moose Lodge No. 1349, 
15and a Migratory Water Fowel member; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin was preceded in death by his parents 
17and his daughter, Teri Moore; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin is survived by his wife; his 
19daughter, Stephanie (Rick) Gentner; his son, Henry (Kris) 
20Mendoza; his grandchildren, Theron Orr, Lakin Gentner, Garrett 
21Gentner, Alyssa Mendoza, Bryce Gentner, and Isabel Mendoza; his

1brother, Phillip Lakin; his sister, Nancy (Loren) Weishaupt; 
2and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Stephen F. Lakin, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Stephen Lakin as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
