| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Richard B. Maye, Ph.D., who passed away |
| 4 | | on July 13, 2013; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was born on October 25, 1933, in |
| 6 | | Newbern, Alabama; his parents were Johnnie Boykin and Frances |
| 7 | | Mayin; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served his country as a member of |
| 9 | | the United States Army; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served as an Assistant Professor |
| 11 | | of Sociology at Illinois College from 2001 until his passing; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was inducted into the 1980-1981 |
| 14 | | edition of Who's Who of America and was a founding member of |
| 15 | | One Church One Child, which earned him an invitation to the |
| 16 | | White House; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was ordained as a minister at |
| 18 | | Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio; he started his ministry |
| 19 | | in Springfield at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church before founding |
| 20 | | Second Timothy Baptist Church in 1988; and
