2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of S. John Calise of Jacksonville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 19, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Calise was born on May 17, 1957, in Corpus | ||||||
6 | Christi, Texas; his parents were Salvatore and Lavada (nee | ||||||
7 | Rose) Calise; he married Marla J. Collop on May 26, 1979, in | ||||||
8 | Kirksville, Missouri; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, John Calise graduated from Kirksville Senior High | ||||||
10 | in Kirksville, Missouri in 1975; he subsequently earned his | ||||||
11 | Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and his Master of | ||||||
12 | Science in Hydraulics and Hydrology from Missouri University of | ||||||
13 | Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, John Calise was a licensed Professional Engineer | ||||||
15 | in Illinois, Florida, and Missouri and a diplomate of the | ||||||
16 | American Academy of Environmental Engineers; he was employed | ||||||
17 | with Camp, Dresser and McKee Consulting Engineers in Florida | ||||||
18 | and the West Coast Regional Water Supply Authority in | ||||||
19 | Clearwater, Florida for several years; in 1997, he relocated | ||||||
20 | his family to Jacksonville, Illinois to serve as principal and | ||||||
21 | vice president of Benton and Associates Consulting Engineers, | ||||||
22 | where he specialized in municipal water, wastewater, and storm |

1 | water management; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, John Calise was a member of the American Council | ||||||
3 | of Engineering Companies of Illinois and Missouri, the | ||||||
4 | Illinois, Missouri, and National Society of Professional | ||||||
5 | Engineers, the American Water Works Association, the Water | ||||||
6 | Environment Federation, and the Illinois Rural Water | ||||||
7 | Association; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, John Calise was a member of the Church of Our | ||||||
9 | Saviour in Jacksonville, where he served on the Finance | ||||||
10 | Committee; he was also a member of the Jacksonville Rotary | ||||||
11 | Club, the Prairieland Council On Aging Board of Directors, the | ||||||
12 | Passavant Hospital Board of Directors, the Crimson Pride | ||||||
13 | Booster Club, and the Shipwatch Yacht and Tennis Club Homeowner | ||||||
14 | Association Phase Board of Directors in Largo, Florida; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, John Calise was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
16 | and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, John Calise is survived by his wife, Marla; his | ||||||
18 | daughter, Meghan L. Calise; his son, Andrew J. Calise; his | ||||||
19 | grandson, Owen M. Evans; his brother, Christopher (Laura) | ||||||
20 | Calise; his nephew, Salvatore Calise; his niece, Sarah Calise; | ||||||
21 | his father-in-law, Marvin Collop; his brother-in-law, Don | ||||||
22 | (Evelyn) Collop; and his niece, Tonya Collop; therefore, be it

2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
3 | family and friends, mourn the passing of S. John Calise; and be | ||||||
4 | it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of John Calise as an expression of our | ||||||
7 | sympathy.
