SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Samuel Oginni of Crystal Lake, who passed away on August 10, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni was born on March 21, 1954, in Nigeria to Titus and Dorcas Oginni; he immigrated to the United States and settled in Minnesota; he received his undergraduate degree from Bemiji State University and his Master's Degree in Business from Morehead State University; he married Sally MacArthur on May 8, 1982, in Morehead, Minnesota; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni worked as a salesman and eventually relocated to Crystal Lake, where he became the owner of Crystal Lake Pontiac GMC in 1995, which he owned until 2011; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni liked to give back to his community; he established a scholarship at his church in 2001 and became the first car dealer to donate a car to Operation Click, a program to raise the awareness of the benefits of seat belt use; he was an active member of the local Rotary Club from 1995 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni enjoyed taking family vacations and practicing soccer with his children; he was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni is survived by his wife, Sally; his children, Rachel (Steve) Dumas and Rebecca and Samuel Oginni; his siblings, Adedemidun, Adesola, Ademalola, Adelola, Adefemi, and Adeboyega; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Samuel Oginni, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Samuel Oginni as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
