SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Duncan Leitch of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of East Peoria, who passed away on August 12, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Paul Leitch was born on June 24, 1950, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Duncan and Eunice Leitch; he graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1968; he earned a Bachelor's Degree from Grinnell College in Iowa, a Master's Degree from Florida State University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis; and

WHEREAS, Paul Leitch worked in human resources, practiced law, and taught sociology classes; he married Soledad Alip in 1980 while teaching on a United States Naval base in the Philippines; and

WHEREAS, Paul Leitch enjoyed spending time with his family and pet dogs, reading books, exploring the Memphis Zoo, and attending many softball, soccer, and basketball games; he liked Motown music, running in races, Peeps candy, and often went out in search of gifts for others; and

WHEREAS, Paul Leitch was preceded in death by his mother; and

WHEREAS, Paul Leitch is survived by his wife, Soledad; his children, Duncan Leitch and Sally (Jared) Woodruff; his siblings, State Representative David Leitch, Brian Leitch, and Carol Leitch Fries; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Duncan Leitch, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Leitch as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
