2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn about the death of Ruth J. (nee Tunila) Wiggers of |
4 | | Lincoln, who passed away on September 28, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers was born on November 20, 1933 to John |
6 | | and Viola Tunila; she grew up in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and |
7 | | graduated from Wilkes Barre Township High School; she attended |
8 | | Western Union Telegraph School in Washington, D.C. and then |
9 | | settled in Illinois; she married Marvin Wiggers at the First |
10 | | United Methodist Church in Lincoln on September 21, 1968; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers worked as a waitress at the Blue Dog |
12 | | Inn in Lincoln and the Heritage Inn; she also worked for the |
13 | | EATON Corporation (formerly known as Cutler Hammer); and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers and her husband loved to dance and |
15 | | were longtime members of the Hartsburg/Emden and Delevan Dance |
16 | | Clubs; they liked to travel and saw all 50 states; she was a |
17 | | 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed arts and crafts of all |
18 | | kinds; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers was preceded in death by her parents; |
20 | | her husband, Marvin; her sister, Helen Lutkoski; her brothers, |
21 | | Joe, Peter, and Victor Tunila; and her stepson, Kevin Wiggers; |

2 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers is survived by her brother, Edward |
3 | | (Rita) Tunila; her daughter, Amy (Nathan) Chen; her |
4 | | sister-in-law, Katherina Goldhammer; her brother-in-law, |
5 | | Milton Wiggers; her sister-in-law, Cecilia Tunila; her |
6 | | step-daughter, Karen (John) Sandel; her son, Robert (Jill) Awe, |
7 | | Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Carrie Wiggers; her granddaughters, |
8 | | Ashley and Kinsley Chen, Shannon (Dan) Doolin, and Courtney |
9 | | Awe; her grandsons, Gregory Chen, Matthew (Tessa) Sandel, |
10 | | Isreal Sandel, Christian Sandel, and Clint Awe; her 7 |
11 | | great-grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, |
12 | | great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; |
13 | | and her friend, Tom LaVenda; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Ruth J. Wiggers, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Ruth Wiggers as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
