2 | | WHEREAS, Not one motorcycle, on-road, off-road, or |
3 | | off-highway vehicle has ever been tested for E-15 usage; no |
4 | | motorcycle manufacturer presently advocates the use of any fuel |
5 | | higher than E-10; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Studies by the Chicago-based National Marine |
7 | | Manufacturers Association, which covers the boating industry, |
8 | | and the Washington, D.C.-based Outdoor Power Equipment |
9 | | Institute, which covers the small engine industry, has |
10 | | concluded that E-15 is very detrimental to those motors; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Fourteen auto manufacturers say that using E-15 in |
12 | | their vehicles may void their warranties and only 2 of those |
13 | | manufacturers say that using E-15 will not affect warranties in |
14 | | some 2012 and newer models; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, The AAA currently advises their 53 million members |
16 | | not to use E-15 until current issues and concerns are |
17 | | addressed; therefore, be it
|
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Congress to |
20 | | pass H.R. 875 to scientifically determine the effects that E-15 |
21 | | will have on internal combustion engines of all types; and be |
