|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Merritt Roger Busby, who passed away on |
4 | | August 30, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby was born on October 21, 1940 in |
6 | | Danville; his parents were Edwin and Nora (Glick) Busby; he |
7 | | married Karon Platson Cornwell on October 31, 1992 at the |
8 | | Brocton Christian Church; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby attended Metcalf Grade School and Hume |
10 | | Junior High School; he subsequently graduated from Young |
11 | | America High School in 1959; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby served in the United States Army from |
13 | | 1964 to 1967, having attained the rank of Sergeant; he served |
14 | | in Korea for 2 years during the Vietnam War era and served as |
15 | | an assistant drill instructor at Ft. Knox, Kentucky; after |
16 | | completing his military service, he attended Eastern Illinois |
17 | | University, where he graduated in 1971; he also completed the |
18 | | Police Training Institute at the University of Illinois; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby devoted his life to public service; he |
20 | | served as a deputy sheriff in Edgar County for 12 years; he |
21 | | later worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family |

1 | | Services as an abuse investigator and licensing representative |
2 | | for home day cares until his retirement in 2006; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby was a member and elder at the Brocton |
4 | | Christian Church; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby was preceded in death by his parents |
6 | | and his sister, Martha Busby Wagner; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Roger Busby is survived by his wife; his |
8 | | step-children, Julie Cornwell and J.R. (Beth) Cornwell; his |
9 | | nieces, Martha Anne (Robert) Bollinger, Katelyn Bollinger, and |
10 | | Emily Bollinger; his nephew, David Wagner; his grandchildren, |
11 | | Mitchell, Carissa, and Megan Cornwell; his mother-in-law, |
12 | | Virginia Reedy; his brother-in-law, Roger Reedy; his |
13 | | sisters-in-law, Janice Sharpton (Richard), Joann Lokken |
14 | | (Robert), and Debra Platson; and his many other extended family |
15 | | members and friends; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Merritt Roger Busby; |
19 | | and be it further
