| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Cora Lee Jordan of Chicago, who passed |
| 4 | | away on October 31, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cora Jordan was born on April 21, 1932 in Macon, |
| 6 | | Mississippi to Walter Lee and Lottie Ree; she was raised in |
| 7 | | West Point, Mississippi and attended school there; she married |
| 8 | | Dr. Jesse D. Jordan at the King David Missionary Baptist Church |
| 9 | | in 1957 in East St. Louis; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Cora Jordan was an active member of the King David |
| 11 | | Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the choir, the Missionary |
| 12 | | Society, the Social Committee, and with other church |
| 13 | | auxiliaries; she became a member of the High Mountain |
| 14 | | Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago in November 1965 when she |
| 15 | | and her husband relocated there; in addition to being the First |
| 16 | | Lady of the Church, she was an active participant on many |
| 17 | | auxiliaries, such as the Missionary Society, the Nurses Board, |
| 18 | | the Red Circle, as Director of Vacation Bible School, and on |
| 19 | | the Kitchen Committee; she eventually joined Zion Travelers |
| 20 | | Missionary Baptist Church in South Holland, where she served on |
| 21 | | the Mother's Board; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Cora Jordan was preceded in death by her parents; |
