SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John L. Orso of Crystal Lake, who passed
4away on October 30, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Orso was born on December 2, 1927 in Aurora
6to Giovanni and Maria Orso; he graduated from Marmion Academy
7and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from the
8University of Notre Dame; he served his country in the United
9Stats Army; he was united in marriage to Marilyn Schuler at St.
10Nicholas Catholic Church in Aurora on November 23, 1950; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Orso worked for 39 years for Nicor Gas
12Company, serving as district superintendent during his last 8
13years; he retired in 1989; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Orso was a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle
15Catholic Church for 50 years, serving as a parish council
16president; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3880,
17and he served as chair of the Apostolic Commission; he was a
18member of the first board of directors of the Crystal Lake
19United Way and later served as chairman; he was also on the
20board of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and was a member
21of the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake and the Notre Dame Club of
22McHenry County; and

1    WHEREAS, John Orso volunteered throughout his community
2with many organizations, such as the Community for Upholding
3Persons jail ministry and the Pioneer Center for Human
4Services' Public Action to Deliver Shelter, and he led many
5blood drives for the Heartland Blood Bank; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Orso was preceded in death by his parents and
7his sisters, Martha and Katherine; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Orso is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his
9children, Catherine (Julio), Mary (Lee) Putman, Laurie (John)
10Dulac, John (Cathy) Orso, Susan Charles, Michael Orso, Martha
11Orso, and Ellen (Jay) Noecker; his 10 grandchildren; and his 2
12great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15John L. Orso, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of John Orso as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
