| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Eric Nefstead of Winnebago, who passed |
| 4 | | away on November 2, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eric Nefstead was born on September 9, 1943 in |
| 6 | | Rochelle; he grew up on a farm on the edge of Steward and |
| 7 | | graduated from Rochelle Township High School; he attended the |
| 8 | | University of Illinois until joining the United States Navy; he |
| 9 | | served 4 years, including one year in Vietnam as an Operating |
| 10 | | Room Technician attached to the 1st Marine Division Hospital in |
| 11 | | Da Nand and the 3rd Marine Division Hospital in Dong Ha; he |
| 12 | | also served at sea aboard the USS Valley Forge and the USS |
| 13 | | Tripoli; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his time in the service, Eric Nefstead |
| 15 | | received his Bachelor of Science in Geography from Northern |
| 16 | | Illinois University; he focused on meteorology and climatology |
| 17 | | and worked as a broadcast meteorologist in North Dakota, Iowa, |
| 18 | | Wisconsin, and Illinois; in 1982, he received the American |
| 19 | | Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for Television |
| 20 | | Broadcasting; and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Eric Nefstead enjoyed watching thunderstorms |
| 22 | | develop and learning how weather worked firsthand; he also |
