SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth of Harvard, who passed away on October 30, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was born on May 14, 1941 to Raymond H. and Ora E. (nee Graf) Kurth in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; he lived his early years in Kewanee, Wisconsin before settling in Harvard; he served his country in the United States Army from 1963 through 1965 in a civil engineering unit stationed in Vietnam; he married Judy L. Cutts on August 31, 1968 at Harvard Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, Lee Kurth worked as a carpenter his entire life; he worked for many years alongside his father, brother, Don, and many nephews in the family business, Kurth Construction Company Incorporated in Harvard; he later worked for Jude Schmidt Custom Construction Incorporated in Marengo, retiring in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed giving his grandchildren tractor rides and playing games with them; and

WHEREAS, Lee Kurth was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald Kurth; his sister, Joanne Denessen; and his brothers-in-law, Lynn Berkovitz and Charles Miller; and

WHEREAS, Lee Kurth is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, Gregory (Regina) Kurth; his daughter, Laura (Scot) Hay; his grandchildren, Anastasia Kurth and Colin and Erik Hay; his stepmother, Ruth Kurth; his sister, Nancy Miller; his sister-in-law, Sharon Kurth; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lee Allen "Sam" Kurth, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lee Kurth as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
