| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Bishop Larry Darnell Young of Decatur, |
| 4 | | who passed away on August 21, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young was born on November 2, 1950 in |
| 6 | | Decatur to Theresa and Dan Young; he was a graduate of |
| 7 | | MacArthur High School and earned his Bachelor of Theology from |
| 8 | | Andersonville Baptist Seminary in 2002; at the time of his |
| 9 | | passing he was pursuing a Masters in Divinity; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young was ordained in 1991 and spent 22 |
| 11 | | years serving as Assistant Pastor for Main Street Church; he |
| 12 | | was a founder of the Old King Orchard Community Center as well |
| 13 | | as Youth With a Positive Direction; he served as a leader for |
| 14 | | Teen Reach and as facilitator for Creating Lasting Family |
| 15 | | Connections for the Decatur Juvenile Justice System; he was a |
| 16 | | board member for various community associations; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young retired from Heritage Behavioral |
| 18 | | Health in October 2012 and at the time of his passing was |
| 19 | | working for Webster Cantrell Hall; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young married Tanya Young on August 1, 2008 |
| 21 | | and together they founded Way of Life Christian Center in |
|

| 1 | | January 2009; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young was preceded in death by his parents |
| 3 | | and by his siblings, Elsie Denise Chappell, Robert Young, and |
| 4 | | Dan Young, Jr.; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Young is survived by is wife, Tanya; his |
| 6 | | sons, Bryan and Kevin Clark; his daughters, Andrea Young, Dawn |
| 7 | | Young, Joy Clark, Kristen Holder, and Kendall Wallace; his |
| 8 | | sons-in-law, Jamian Holder and Blake Wallace; his brothers, |
| 9 | | Iceley "Frizzo" Young, Albert "Dickey Boy" Young, Gary Young, |
| 10 | | Oscar Jose Leggions, and James "Jakey" Leggions; his sisters, |
| 11 | | Mable L. Grayned, Georgia Rogers, and Alberta "Petty" Young; |
| 12 | | his 9 grandchildren; his 3 great-grandchildren; his special |
| 13 | | loved ones, Sam James, Lorenzo Williams, Jerry Cole, Brian |
| 14 | | Slaw, Todd Dawson, Lawrence Trimble, Michael Young, Raymond |
| 15 | | Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, |
| 16 | | be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 19 | | Bishop Larry Darnell Young, and extend our sincere condolences |
| 20 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 21 | | it further
