2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gerald F. Tuite, Sr., formerly of | ||||||
4 | Rockford, who passed away on December 31, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was born on November 15, 1928 to | ||||||
6 | John C. and Mildred (nee Murphy) Tuite; he served his country | ||||||
7 | as a combat infantry leader and chief photographer with the | ||||||
8 | United States Army in Japan during the Korean War; he attended | ||||||
9 | Rockford College and Georgetown University and then | ||||||
10 | Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating with honors and his | ||||||
11 | Juris Doctor in 1958; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1958, Gerald Tuite, Sr. opened Gerald Tuite & | ||||||
13 | Associates in Rockford, specializing in Labor Law, Workers' | ||||||
14 | Compensation Law, and Personal Injury Law; he was a frequent | ||||||
15 | lecturer on workers' rights and at Bar Association seminars; he | ||||||
16 | was a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar | ||||||
17 | Association, and the American and Illinois Trial Lawyers | ||||||
18 | Associations and he received numerous accolades for his service | ||||||
19 | to various organizations; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was active in Democratic | ||||||
21 | politics in the Rockford area; he served as a Precinct | ||||||
22 | Committeeman and Vice-Chairman of the Winnebago County |

1 | Democratic Party and was active in many campaigns for local, | ||||||
2 | State, and national offices; he also served as an Assistant | ||||||
3 | Attorney General for 8 years; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was a member of the Knights of | ||||||
5 | Columbus, the Naples Yacht Club, the Big Foot Country Club, the | ||||||
6 | Metropolitan Club, the Phi Delta Phi Law Fraternity, and was a | ||||||
7 | charter member of Saint Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park; | ||||||
8 | and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | parents and by his brother, John Tuite; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. is survived by his beloved wife, | ||||||
12 | Francine Williams Tuite; his children, Gregory E. (Mary) Tuite, | ||||||
13 | Dr. Gerald F. (Susan) Tuite, Jr., Michael P. (Jennifer) Tuite, | ||||||
14 | and Tracy (Paul) Beraud; his 9 grandchildren; and 1 | ||||||
15 | great-granddaughter; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Gerald F. Tuite, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
