| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Edward Duffy, who passed away on January |
| 4 | | 4, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Duffy was born in 1945; his parents were |
| 6 | | Edward and Dorothy Duffy; he married the love of his life, |
| 7 | | Nancy, in 1968; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Edward Duffy had a long and distinguished career |
| 9 | | in public service; after many years in the Chicago Police |
| 10 | | Department, he later served the State of Illinois as head of |
| 11 | | the Dangerous Drugs Commission, the Department of Alcoholism |
| 12 | | and Substance Abuse, the Department of Public Aid, and as |
| 13 | | Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor James Thompson; he |
| 14 | | subsequently moved to the private sector, where he served as |
| 15 | | President of Arlington Park Racetrack and oversaw the |
| 16 | | rebuilding of the track; he also oversaw the transformation of |
| 17 | | Sportsman's Park into a dual-purpose facility that brought |
| 18 | | world class auto racing to Illinois with Chicago Motor |
| 19 | | Speedway; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Edward Duffy is survived by his wife, Nancy; his |
| 21 | | children, Colleen, Meghan, Kelli, Erin, Cara, Tim, Eric, Brent, |
| 22 | | and Scott; and his grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, Braden, |
