| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert L. Hoard of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 17, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was born on June 14, 1922 in |
| 6 | | Thomasville; his parents were Edward and Josephine (nee Smock) |
| 7 | | Hoard; he married Aldona L. Sterbis on May 14, 1944; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Hoard served his country as a member of the |
| 9 | | United States Army Air Forces during World War II; following |
| 10 | | his discharge, he moved to Peoria; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Robert Hoard and his wife owned and operated |
| 12 | | Palace Cleaners and Shine Parlor and Spring Street Cleaners for |
| 13 | | 20 years; he worked as a supervisor with the Secretary of State |
| 14 | | Driver's License Department for several years and the Illinois |
| 15 | | Department of Transportation for 23 years; he also owned and |
| 16 | | remodeled rental houses for many years; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was a past president of the Sertoma |
| 18 | | Club and a 6-decade member of AMVETS Post 64, where he was a |
| 19 | | past commander and board president; he was also a member of |
| 20 | | Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria for many years; and
