SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. Hoard of Peoria, who passed away on January 17, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was born on June 14, 1922 in Thomasville; his parents were Edward and Josephine (nee Smock) Hoard; he married Aldona L. Sterbis on May 14, 1944; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II; following his discharge, he moved to Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard and his wife owned and operated Palace Cleaners and Shine Parlor and Spring Street Cleaners for 20 years; he worked as a supervisor with the Secretary of State Driver's License Department for several years and the Illinois Department of Transportation for 23 years; he also owned and remodeled rental houses for many years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was a past president of the Sertoma Club and a 6-decade member of AMVETS Post 64, where he was a past commander and board president; he was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria for many years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Josephine Hemberger; and his brother, Chet Hoard; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hoard is survived by his wife, Aldona; his son, Gregory (Nancy) Hoard; his granddaughters, Rachel and Faith; his sisters, Margaret Dorsey, Lorretta Cloyed, Erma Fedor, Lou Cummings, and Marian Marsalgia; his brother, Raymond Hoard; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Hoard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Hoard as an expression of our sympathy.
