SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Catherine "Kate" A. (nee Heffernan) 
4Sklare of Joliet, who passed away on January 5, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was born on March 13, 1924 in 
6Chicago to Mary and John Heffernan; and
  
 
  
7    WHEREAS, Affectionately know as Grandma "Cake", Catherine 
8Sklare was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing Bingo 
9and baking; she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 
10#367 Auxiliary; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was preceded in death by by her 
12husband, Henry W. Sklare; her parents; her siblings; her 
13daughter-in-law, Brenda Sklare; and her son-in-law, David 
14Allen, Sr.; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare is survived by her children, 
16Joyce (the late David, Sr.) Allen, Dr. John (Laura) Sklare, 
17William (Barbara) Sklare, and Patricia (William) Dietz; her 
18grandchildren, Christine (Richard) Hurley, David Allen, Jr., 
19Joshua (Kelly) Sklare, Erin (Matthew) Harrell, Mary-Lynn 
20Foster (George Krueger), Scott Dietz, and Andrew Dietz; her 
21great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kourtney Thomas, Kaden Hurley,

1Justin Allen, Maya and Mirielle Sklare, Grayson Harrell, 
2Addison Dietz, and Jack Dietz; her cousin, Edward (Alice) 
3Wilson; and her niece, Marilyn (Bill) Brogan; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Catherine A. Sklare, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Catherine Sklare as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
