2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Jerold R. "Jerry" Cordrey of McHenry, who |
4 | | passed away on January 31, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on |
6 | | May 21, 1927 to Howard Roscoe and Helen Irene (nee Mosher) |
7 | | Cordrey; he married Eve Belle Church on August 21, 1954 in |
8 | | Angola, Indiana; he served in the United States Navy as a |
9 | | Seaman 1st Class from 1946 to 1948 and received a World War II |
10 | | Victory Medal; he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from |
11 | | Hillsdale College and studied as a post-graduate at Michigan |
12 | | State University; he settled in McHenry in 1970; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey worked for 41 years as the Director |
14 | | of Training for the American Farm Bureau; he retired in 1992; |
15 | | and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was a member of St. Paul's |
17 | | Episcopal Church in McHenry, the McHenry Moose Lodge, Delta |
18 | | Sigma Phi, and served as a precinct committeeman; he was an |
19 | | avid boater and enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with |
20 | | his family; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was preceded in death by his |

1 | | parents; his son, Eric Howard Cordrey; and by his brother, |
2 | | Howard Pressler Cordrey; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey is survived by his wife of 59 |
4 | | years, Eve; his children, Timothy (Judy) Cordrey, Denise Koch, |
5 | | and Carole (Rodney) Ackerman; his grandchildren, Rachel, |
6 | | Jeremy, Katie, Bridget (Adam) Nelson, Callie (Ryan) Tessema, |
7 | | Nathan Koch, and Lucas (Brittany) Ackerman; his |
8 | | great-grandchildren, Josie, Sophie, Grey, Cole, Alyssa, Tyson, |
9 | | Jennifer, Christina, and Elliot; and his sister, Patricia Jane |
10 | | Partridge; therefore, be it

11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Jerold R. "Jerry" Cordrey, and extend our sincere condolences |
14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
15 | | it further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Jerold Cordrey as an expression of |
18 | | our deepest sympathy.
