SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Robert G. "Bob"  Nelson of Crystal Lake, 
4who passed away on February 16, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Nelson was born in Crystal Lake on June 26, 
61929 to George and Rose (nee Gaebe) Nelson; he graduated from 
7Crystal Lake Central High School in 1947, where he played 
8varsity basketball, and attended Northern Illinois University, 
9where he also played basketball; he served in the United States 
10Army during the Korean War; he married Barbara Brayton; and
  
 
  
11    WHEREAS, Robert Nelson volunteered many hours with the 
12McHenry County Historical Society and at Cary United Methodist 
13Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Nelson enjoyed fishing at his cabin in 
15Wisconsin and at his house on Kristy Lane in Cary; he was an 
16avid outdoorsman and liked to "tinker" with objects in and 
17around the house; he organized an Easter egg hunt that became a 
18yearly family tradition; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, 
20Barbara; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Nelson is survived by his children, Linda 
2(Paul) Hoefert, Bob Nelson, and Susan (Dennis) Rasmussen; his 
3grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Dana (Jessica), Erik (Erica), and 
4Kyle (Tiffani); his 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Melvin 
5Nelson; his niece, Mary; and his nephew, Mark; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Robert G. "Bob" Nelson, and extend our sincere condolences to 
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Robert Nelson as an expression of our deepest 
13sympathy.
