SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leo Chester Cox of Alton, who passed away
4on March 11, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leo Cox was born on September 29, 1942 in St.
6Louis; his parents were Norval and Amanda Butler Cox; he
7married Charlene Lucas on June 4, 1960; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Leo Cox was honorably discharged from the United
9States Marine Corps in 1964; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leo Cox worked in the parts division at General
11Motors; he later retired from Shell Oil; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Leo Cox was a member of the 100 Black Men of
13Alton, American Legion Post 354, Friends of the 60's/ABA, the
14NAACP, the Leathernecks, the Urban League, the Wood River
15Refinery Retired Association, and the Magnificent Seven and
16Just Us bowling teams; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Leo Cox enjoyed golfing, dancing, and going to
18Alton High School games; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Leo Cox was preceded in death by his wife,

1Charlene; his parents; his sister, Amanda Matilda Cox; and his
2brother, Donald Cox; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Leo Cox is survived by his daughter, Wendy Gray;
4his sons, Cleveland (Lisa) Cox, Leo Cox, Jr. and Michael
5(Tonya) Cox; his grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his
6brothers, Norval Cox, Jr., Samuel Cox, Sr., and Barbara Weeden
7(Curtis Faulkner); and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Leo Chester Cox; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Leo Cox as an expression of our
15sympathy.
