2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Gollie Mae (nee Mobley) Rodgers of |
4 | | Chicago, who passed away on March 15, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was born in Council, Arkansas on |
6 | | August 26, 1946 to Clinton, Sr. and Beatrice (nee Floyd) |
7 | | Mobley; she graduated from Anna Strong High School in Marianna, |
8 | | Arkansas in 1966 and attended Prairie State College in Chicago |
9 | | Heights; she married Claymon Rodgers on September 26, 1966 in |
10 | | Chicago; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers worked for Trine Stone Cleaners in |
12 | | Chicago Heights, Four Seasons Nursing Home in Hazel Crest, and |
13 | | ITW Impro in Monkena, where she retired after over 33 years of |
14 | | service; she also worked for the City of Chicago Heights Park |
15 | | District; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers enjoyed traveling in the United |
17 | | States and abroad; she also enjoyed spending time with her |
18 | | family and worked for many years on behalf of the Mobley Family |
19 | | Reunion, serving as secretary; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was a member of Calvary Baptist |
21 | | Church in Chicago Heights from 1973 to 2000, where she served |

1 | | as Sunday school teacher, choir member, and in the women's |
2 | | missionary department; from 2000 to 2014, she was a member of |
3 | | the First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Ford Heights, |
4 | | where she served as a member of the treasury board, choir |
5 | | member, member of the pastoral care committee, and member of |
6 | | the feeding ministry; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was preceded in death by her |
8 | | parents; her daughter, Wanna Joyce; and by her husband of 43 |
9 | | years, Claymon; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers is survived by her daughters, Wanda |
11 | | and Donna; her grandson, Michael E. Hunter; her granddaughters, |
12 | | Destiny J. and Ericka C. Hunter; her sister, Mary H. (Henry |
13 | | Jr.) Mobley Thompson; her brother, Clinton Mobley, Jr.; her |
14 | | in-laws, Bobby Rodgers and Katherine Edmond; a host of nieces, |
15 | | nephews, and cousins; and her First Union Baptist Church family |
16 | | and her "son", Pastor Dr. Robert M. Foster; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Gollie Mae Rodgers, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
21 | | further

22 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
