SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of George "JR" Dodd of Beach Park, who 
4passed away on April 11, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, George Dodd was born on February 24, 1928 in El 
6Dorado; he served in the United States Navy during World War II 
7and settled in Waukegan after being discharged; and
  
 
  
8    WHEREAS, George Dodd drove race cars at Waukegan Speedway, 
9Wilmot Speedway, and Lake Geneva Raceway for several years and 
10was founder and original board member of the Interstate Racing 
11Association; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, George Dodd was preceded in death by his wife, 
13Myrtle; granddaughter, Christine Urbanik; sister, Mary Hafford 
14Kennedy; brother, Bobby Dodd, Sr.; and his parents, George and 
15Goldie Dodd; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, George Dodd is survived by his children, Darrell 
17Dodd, Rose (Tim), Roy (Joyce) Dodd, Wendell Dodd, Kathy (Jeff) 
18Hutson, Carla (Ralph) Nickel, Donald (Jenny) Dodd, and Donna 
19Urbanik; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, 
20Wanda Lawrence; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3George "JR" Dodd, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of George Dodd as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
