SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bertha Lee Logue; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bertha Logue was born in Macon, Georgia on May 17,
51923 to Edwin Anthony Henry, Sr. and Rosa Lee Brown; she
6attended Unionville Elementary School in Macon, graduated from
7Hudson High School, and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse
8(LPN) degree from Hughes Vocational School for Nursing in
9Macon; she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from
10Georgetown University School of Nursing in Washington, D.C.;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bertha Logue started her career working at the
13United States Treasury in the printing and engraving
14department; she moved to Chicago in 1949 and worked at Curtiss
15Candy; she then returned to Macon, Georgia and married James
16Logue; she worked as an LPN in the Macon hospital system and
17then went to work as a private duty nurse; in 1973, she
18returned to Chicago and worked as a nurse at Peace Memorial
19Hospital; after 18 years of service, she retired with several
20commendations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bertha Logue was a member of Holy Name of Mary
22Church, where she participated in the Choral Ensemble Choir and

1the Devine Souls Group Choir; she also served as secretary of
2the Holy Name of Mary Ladies Guild - an affiliate of the
3Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #134; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bertha Logue was preceded in death by her parents,
5and by 6 siblings, Etta Mae Shortz, Edwin Anthony Henry Jr.,
6Cornelius David Henry, Clara B. Holley, Thelma L. Burke, and
7William Harrison Henry; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bertha Logue is survived by her special nieces,
9Cheryl Lynn (Ronald) Robinson, Courtney Ashley Robinson, and
10Karen C. Britton; special nephew, Justyn D. Britton; and a host
11of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Bertha Lee Logue, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bertha Logue as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
