2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Arlan "Frank" Mir of Godfrey, who passed |
4 | | away on May 3, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Arlan Mir was born in Durango, Colorado on August |
6 | | 23, 1931 to William and Irene (nee Kettler) Mir; he served in |
7 | | the United States Air Force and married Phyllis Wright on March |
8 | | 27, 1976; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Arlan Mir worked for McDonnell Douglas as Director |
10 | | of Manufacturing, retiring in 1989 after 36 years of service; |
11 | | from 1992-1995, he worked as Vice-President of Operations on |
12 | | the B2-Bomber in Palmdale, California at Northrop Grumman; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Arlan Mir was a former member of the Alton Eagles |
14 | | Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 254, the Elks Lodge 2316 in |
15 | | Florissant, Missouri, and he was a 3rd Degree Knight with the |
16 | | Knights of Columbus in Bunker Hill; since 2005, he spent the |
17 | | winter months in Pharr, Texas; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Arlan Mir was preceded in death by his parents; a |
19 | | brother, William Mir; a sister, Joelene Zellitti; 2 |
20 | | brothers-in-law, Manuel Continho and Al Zellitti; and his |
21 | | Teacup Poodle Chihuahua, Mindy; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Arlan Mir is survived by his wife, Phyllis; 3 |
2 | | sons, William C. Mir, Robert Mir (Claire), and Robert Curry; 2 |

4 | | grandchildren, Nicole Stephenson (Matt), Jennifer Kelsey (Ed), |
5 | | Heather Gehner (Luke), Jacqueline Mir, Rebecca Lincoln, Ryan |
6 | | Mir, Christopher Lincoln, Jessica Mir, and Charles Randol; 8 |
7 | | great-grandchildren, Nolan Kelsey, Brady Michael McNamee, |
8 | | Logan Kelsey, Natalie Mir, Caden Gehner, Owen Kelsey, Sophia |
9 | | Stephenson, and Eagan Gehner; a sister, Lois Continho; a |
10 | | sister-in-law, Wanda Mir; and his beloved Bichon dog, Mandy; |

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Arlan "Frank" Mir, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Arlan Mir as an expression of our |
19 | | deepest sympathy.
